Boulevard de Clichy Listen
This is the title tune. It's an up bop thing...the original tunes on this recording were written during the five years I lived at a great address in the heart of Pigalle.

Ronnie's Gone Listen
Years ago, Bob wrote this an eulogy for Ronnie Parks, a much loved tenor player who passed away unexpectedly. He was only 26yrs old. The tune was written at the family's request. A sad story but a great piece of music...it's a hymn.

WabashListen
Cannonball wrote this and recorded it on the Cannonball/Coltrane album. It's an under-recorded gem.....it swings like mad all by itself.

Topo Lino N/A
Topo Lino means Mickey Mouse in Italian. I was visiting good friends in Piambino, Tuscana. The grandmother in the house insisted I read a Mickey Mouse comic book to her every day from cover to cover to learn Italian, while she cooked and howled. I was using her piano and came up with this tune.

Groove Merchant Listen
This is a great one by the late-great saxophonist Jerome Richardson... it's a new orleans gospel/r&b romp that's fun and easy to play... it's a straight ahead groove tune.

Happy Birthday Blues Listen
This was written on my birthday as a present to myself, I think it was '95.... anyway it's a jazz/blues. The band I had then liked it so it got played a lot as an up-swing set closer.

The originals on this recording were written while I was living in Pigalle, known as the redlight district of Paris. Tour buses, the Moulin Rouge, the music stores, Montmartre ... all within a five minute walk. I could play and teach there, we had jams sometimes ... it was beautiful. Finally I moved because of the noise, but it was great while it lasted. This recording session was thrown together really fast, Doug was in town, Amos, Scott, and John were willing, so we did a rehearsal/gig at Kaos Jazz & Blues Bistro Sunday night and recorded on Monday. Danny Patton had recording gear already set up and tweaked when we arrived and Andrew Mosker of the Chinook Keyboard Centre made us feel welcome, so we just layed down tunes....it was fun, I hope you like it.
